Cleansers

LIVING LIBATIONS Best Skin Ever – I adore Living Libations Best Skin Ever oils for oil cleansing, I’ve been using them for over a decade. The most popular is Seabuckthorn Best Skin Ever. It’s not too heavy or too light making it suitable for all skin types. It cleanses as it nourishes and balances the skin.

My personal favourite is Rose Best Skin Ever. It’s soothing, a touch more nourishing than the Seabuckthorn and good for skin prone to redness, sensitivity, dryness or maturing skin.

Frankincense Best Skin Ever is my second favourite. It’s a little lighter and more clarifying, making it a great option for normal, oily, and combination skin. It also works well evening out skin tone, fading hyperpigmentation, melasma, and acne marks.

If you have oily or acne prone skin, and your skin gets breakouts from coconut oil, try Sandalwood Best Skin Ever or Immortelle Best Skin Ever – both are coconut oil-free, and very light and balancing.

MARAAlgae Enzyme Cleansing Oil – This is hands down the best cleanser for dry or sensitive skin, and removing makeup. It’s suitable for all skin types, but especially good for skin that needs extra nourishment and moisture. It’s a moisturizing oil cleanser that can be rinsed off with water, or removed with a wash cloth. It’s gentle, barely has a scent, it doesn’t strip or dry out skin. It feels silky soft, luxurious and nourishing as it cleanses and removes makeup.

ANNMARIE SKIN CARE Aloe Herb Cleanser – This is an ultra gentle, non-foaming milky cleanser that washes away makeup and debris and leaves skin feeling clean and balanced. Hydrating and gentle, this cleanser truly washes your face of buildup and makeup, leaving it soft, supple and feeling clean. I use this as a morning cleanser, and as a second cleanse at night. Great for all skin types, including sensitive and dry.

INDIE LEE Brightening Cleanser – This gel cleanser is the queen of all gel cleansers. If you like a foaming cleanser and your skin leans normal, combination or oily, this is truly mild, yet very effective at cleansing the skin and removing sunscreen, makeup and buildup. It’s suitable for all skin types, doesn’t strip or dry out the skin, and doesn’t leave behind any residues. It’s also gentle enough to use around the eyes. If you are looking for a no-fuss easy cleanser, go with this.

JOSH ROSEBROOKEssential Balm Cleanse – Prefer a cleansing balm that soothes and moisturizes as it cleanses? Great for dry and winter skin, this cleansing balm removes makeup and impurities, hydrates and softens skin, and rinses off clean. It’s especially great for dry, mature or sensitive skin that needs an ultra mild cleanser to wash away impurities without disrupting skin.

Smooth Raw Honey – I’m a big fan of using smooth raw honey as a cleanser, especially for younger skin that is acne-prone (great if your in your 20s or early thirties, or younger). Best to use a local organic smooth honey or a manuka honey.

Facial Scrubs

LEAHLANI Kalima Coconut Cream Cleansing Powder – Looking for a polishing everyday cleanser that not only keeps skin smooth and glowing, but also targets acne marks, hyperpigmentation, dullness, or bumpy skin texture? This is a must try. It even helps fade stubborn melasma. It’s such a unique cleanser, it exfoliates and resurfaces the skin, and is extremely soothing and nourishing. It evens out skin tone, reduces redness, cleans out clogged pores and blackheads, and makes your skin silky soft. I like using it as a second cleanse at night (after cleansing with an oil cleanser). I leave it on for a couple of minutes for a deeper cleanse, and rinse off with cool water. It’s gentle enough to use twice a day, and never dries out skin. It’s superb. If you have dry skin, try activating it with Leahlani Pamplemousse Tropical Enzyme Cleansing Oil instead of water, it’ll make it extra moisturizing.

LIVING LIBATIONS Neroli Glow Polishing Creme Cleanser – This is a beautiful combination of a moisturizing cleansing milk and micro-exfoliant scrub. It polishes, brightens and revitalizes skin. I highly recommend it for dry, dehydrated, dull, tired or maturing skin. It sloughs away buildup and flakes, revealing soft, supple and rejuvenated skin.

LEAHLANI Honey Love Microdermabrasion Exfoliator – This exfoliating scrub delivers outstanding results. It takes soft smooth skin to the next level. I highly recommend it for resurfacing skin, fading acne marks and scars, and smoothing congested skin texture. For best results, leave it on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing, and always stir the jar before using (the exfoliating grains tend to collect at the bottom of the jar). Great for congested, textured, acne prone, oily, combination or normal skin types (if you have sensitive skin, this is too aggressive of a scrub – better to use Leahlani Kalima Cleansing Powder instead).

Toners

INDIE LEE CoQ-10 Toner – This is the most hydrating toner I’ve used. This truly delivers lasting hydration throughout the day, plumping skin as it brightens. If you love a dewy glow, go with this.

LIVING LIBATIONS Rose Glow Complexion Mist – A delicate pure rose water facial mist. It’s gentle, hydrating, and smooths texture and pores. Great for all skin types, including very sensitive skin.

LEAHLANI Bohemian Ruby Toner – This is my favorite toner for sensitive skin. It’s ultra gentle, soothing and hydrating. Great for diminishing the appearance redness, and balancing stressed skin.

Serums / Treatments

Melasma

The following product combinations work amazing for stubborn melasma. When using any of these combinations, I strongly recommend that the rest of your skincare routine be as plain and minimal as possible, so nothing interferes with the efficacy of the products.

LEAHLANI Siren Brightening Serum mixed with Bless Beauty Balm – Something about combining Leahlani serums with Bless Beauty Balm amplify the results. In this case, Siren Brightening Serum mixed with Bless Beauty Balm brightens skin, evens out skin tone, and fades melasma. If you have stubborn dermal melasma, especially large dark patches, this is worth a try. I recommend mixing a small amount of Bless Beauty Balm with 1/2 – 1 pump Siren Serum and apply to clean skin. Start with once a day (can eventually move up to twice daily). This should be used in place of serum and moisturizer.

LIVING LIBATIONS Frankincense Best Skin Ever (use as an oil cleanser), followed by applying Rose Renewal + Frankincense Firming Fluid – This Living Libations combo soothes and fades melasma, while also clarifying and hydrating skin. I believe the frankincense and rose otto in these two products are the key ingredients targeting the hyperpigmentation and inflammation, resulting in a clear, even skin tone. Both of these products are lightweight, skin smoothing, and suitable for all skin types. Unless you have very oily skin, you’ll probably need a moisturizer on top. I recommend something very plain, and free of essential oils like a few drops of Indie Lee Squalane Facial Oil or Jojoba Oil. During the day you can use a fragrance-free moisturizing sunscreen on top (I recommend Suntegrity 5in1 Tinted Sunscreen Moisturizer).

LIVING LIBATIONS Open Sky Sheer Serum, followed by INDIE LEE Daily Vitamin Infusion – This combination fades melasma, evens out skin tone and makes your skin look like glass. It’s sheer gorgeousness and youthening. Living Libations Open Sky Sheer Serum is a hydrating, cooling, anti-inflammatory serum that evens out skin tone, locks in moisture, and makes skin dewy and supple. Indie Lee Daily Vitamin Infusion is an oil-based vitamin C serum infused with skin strengthening ceramides. This serum moisturizes, brightens and helps smooth lines and wrinkles. I recommend layering these two products, starting with Open Sky Sheer Serum after cleansing, and then applying a few drops of Daily Vitamin Infusion. These can probably be used in place of moisturizer, but if needed, use an essential oil-free moisturizer like Jao Brand Face Creme Sensitive Skin or fragrance-free mineral sunscreen (I recommend Suntegrity 5in1 Tinted Sunscreen).

Vitamin C & Brightening Products

(for fading sun spots, dark spots, hyperpigmentation)

MARA Sea Vitamin C Serum – This is the best Vitamin C serum I’ve used. It potent, stable, and very gentle. It brightens skin and evens skin tone as it fades stubborn hyperpigementaion, darks spots, suns spots, freckles, and acne marks and scars. If you find most vitamin C serums too drying or irritating, I strongly recommend this. It’s ultra lightweight, oil-based serum that softens skin as it delivers an instant glow.

INDIE LEE Daily Vitamin Infusion – I love how this formula contains both Vitamin C and ceramides, so it works to brighten skin as it also strengthens and smooths skin. This is great if you are looking for a brightening serum that also targets the signs of aging (especially deep lines and wrinkles).

LIVING LIBATIONS DewDab – This is a pure essential oil blend formulated to fade spots and imperfections. It’s especially great for fading hyperpigmentation, sun spots, age spots, and old acne marks. You would used this as a spot treatment just on your spots, not all over your face. If using a pure essential oil blend is too strong for your skin, the DewDab Ozonated Beauty Balm is made of the same essential oil blend but mixed with anti-inflammatory ozone, which also targets redness and inflammation and supports skin healing.

LEAHLANI Aqua A Retinoid Renewing Serum – This retinoid serum is one of my top favorite anti-aging serums, and it’s extremely effective fading stubborn dark spots, sun spots and age spots. If vitamin C serums do nothing for your dark spots, try this.

Acne

LOA SKIN Botanical Beauty Elixir – This is the best moisturizing treatment serum I’ve found for problem skin prone to acne, eczema, rosacea, inflammation or sensitivity. It’s a moisturizing oil blend infused with calming botanicals that soothe irritation, balancing sebum production, and promoting a healthy skin barrier. It delivers the perfect amount of moisture without clogging pores, never heavy or greasy.

ANNMARIE SKIN CARE Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin – This is an ultra lightweight potent face oil that clarifies clogged pores, soothes irritation, and brings calm and balance to broken out skin. Don’t be scared it’s an oil, it’s so lightweight and actually helps balance sebum production. The neem and herbs in the oil work deeply to clarify congested skin and keep it clear. I highly recommend it for acne prone skin, and not only for the face, but chest and back acne too.

LEAHLANI Siren Brightening Serum – Vitamin C is an ingredient usually associated with brightening skin, but it also helps speed up healing of pimples and acne. Plus, vitamin C helps fade acne marks and scars. This serum in particular from Leahlani is very compatible with acne prone skin. It’s made with oils that don’t clog pores, it’s lightweight and supports skin repair as it balances skin. This is a great moisturizing serum if you are looking for a product that targets existing pimples and helps fade old marks and scars.

INDIE LEE Banish Solution – I really like Indie Lee spot treatments, and my favorite out of the three is the Banish Solution. This stuff is strong and it works! It’s great for banishing stubborn pimples and closed comedones that just won’t budge. If you pick at pimples this is a great solution, because once you apply it, it dries down into pink clay-like coating on your pimples preventing you from picking or touching it. You have to leave it be so it does its magic overnight.

LIVING LIBATIONS DewDab and Soothsayer Serum – This duo works particularly well for fading acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and marks left behind from acne and breakouts. For best results, every night mix 1 drop of DewDab with a few drops of Soothsayer Serum, and apply to your face and neck. Over the course of a few weeks you should start seeing your skin tone even out, and marks and bumps fading.

You can also use DewDab on its own as a spot treatment (dab a tiny amount on pimples at night).

LIVING LIBATIONS Zippity DewDab is another essential oil blend formulated to speed up the healing of blemishes and stubborn pimples. It’s strong! I personally prefer the DewDab blend, but I know many people who like the Zippity DewDab better. It’s one of those things you need to try for yourself to see what works best for you.

LIVING LIBATIONS Tea Tree Essential Oil – Dab on pimples to speed up healing and reduce inflammation.

Exfoliating Acids

(for smoothing skin texture, bumpy texture, fine lines, rough skin, dullness, acne marks and scars, clogged pores)

ANNMARIE SKIN CARE Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant – This is a fantastic lactic acid exfoliating treatment that hydrates skin as it clarifies and resurfaces. Great for smoothing texture and fines line, and keeping skin clear and glowing. A definite pick me up for skin that tends to be dull, or prone to congestion, enlarged pores, and lines.

INDIE LEE Radiance Renewal Peel – These exfoliating peel pads are hydrating, brightening and resurfacing. Great for smoothing out skin texture and fine lines, fading dark spots, sun spots and hyperpigmentation and giving your skin a hydrated glow. Suitable for all skin types, but especially good for dry, dehydrated or maturing skin. I also use them on my chest for fading sun spots and sun damage.

Redness & Sensitivity

LOA SKIN Botanical Beauty Elixir – This serum is made for problem skin prone to acne, eczema, rosacea, and inflammatory skin issues. If you are looking for something to calm your skin down and get it balanced, clear and healthy again, this is it. This is always the product I reach for when my skin feels irritated, achy, off balance or sensitive. I’ve even been using it to treat a chronic rash I have on my chest and it’s the only product that has ever worked.

LEAHLANI Happy Hour Balancing Serum (formerly called Champagne Serum) – This oil-based serum is a dream. It’s so moisturizing and calming for the skin. Great for red, irritated, dry or sensitive skin. The base is grapeseed oil which also makes it compatible with acne prone skin that needs extra care and nourishment.

LIVING LIBATIONS Rose Glow Serum – This is a soothing and skin softening serum. Lightweight, fast absorbing and really helps to reduce redness, sensitivity and even out blotchy skin tone. For dry skin, I recommend using a few drops of Rose Glow Serum on clean skin, followed by Rose Glow Creme for extra hydration, nourishment and to seal in moisture. Beautiful combo for sensitive, dry, or maturing skin.

LIVING LIBATIONS BeDew Dab Ozonated Beauty Balm – A cooling and calming ozonated balm that is extremely soothing and replenishing for skin prone to redness, irritation and sensitivity. Can be used a spot treatment on areas that need calming, or on your entire face in place of serum or moisturizer. Out of all Living Libations Ozonated Beauty Balms, this one is my favorite. I find it most gentle and soothing for sensitized, parched or inflamed skin.

Anti-aging

(for plumping, hydrating, and smoothing)

LIVING LIBATIONS Rose Renewal + Frankincense Firming Fluid – This is one of my top favorite Living Libations products. It’s a hydrating firming serum that works to plump and smooth your skin. It’s lightweight, soothing, and makes your skin velvety soft. For oily skin types and humid weather it can be used on its own as a lightweight hydrating lotion, and for dry skin types best to layer it underneath your favorite moisturizer or facial oil for a hydration boost.

ANNMARIE SKIN CARE Citrus Stem Cell Serum (formerly called Repair Serum) – If your skin is looking aged and lined, or you have a lot of sun damage that has left your skin patchy, dehydrated, and with dark spots and texture – I highly recommend this treatment serum. It truly rejuvenates skin and gives it a strong dose of hydration bringing dull aged skin back to life. Use nightly as an overnight refining treatment, and overtime your skin will become increasingly smooth, even, plumped, and so soft you can’t stop touching it.

Retinol

MARA Algae Retinol Face Oil – Potent and moisturizing, this retinol oil delivers results. If you are looking for an anti-aging product to firm skin, smooth lines and wrinkles, diminish texture and the appearance of enlarged pores, and keep your skin youthful and clear – this is it. I will warn you, it’s strong! Best to gradually ease into using it (I recommend starting with using it 2 nights a week for one month, then 3 nights a week the second month, and work up to using it every night or every other night). Over time it will make your skin smooth, glowing, plumped, firmer, and fresh looking. If you are going to invest in one product to reduce the signs of aging, I recommend this.

LEAHLANI Aqua A Retinoid Renewing Serum – Need a gentle retinoid that still delivers results? Aqua A is it. This won’t cause any redness, irritation or dryness, and leaves skin smooth, plumped, and rejuvenated. I recommend starting with using it 2-3 times a week, and gradually work up to using it nightly. Great for smoothing fines lines and wrinkles, firming skin, fading stubborn sun spots and age spots, and keeping skin clear and radiant.

LUNA NECTAR Futurize Retinol Alternative Boosting Serum – If your skin doesn’t tolerate retinol or retinoids, try a retinol alternative. Luna Nectar Futurize delivers results without the irritation. It smooths and rejuvenates skin, brightens, diminishes the appearance of redness and helps even out skin tone. It has a beautiful silky texture (great for priming and smoothing skin before makeup) and can be used day and/or night.

Facial Oils

LOA SKIN Botanical Beauty Elixir – I just love this face oil. I’ve gone through bottle after bottle. It’s soothing, replenishing, and not too heavy or too light. It also keeps skin incredibly clear and balanced, while at same time keeping your complexion nourished and soft. Great for all skin types, especially sensitive skin, or if you use a lot of strong actives like retinol, this would complement your skin care routine perfectly.

ANNMARIE SKIN CARE Herbal Facial Oil for Normal/Combination Skin – Annmarie Skin Care Herbal Facial Oils are truly moisturizing. They have one for every skin type, they all deliver lasting moisture keeping skin soft and smooth. My personal favorite is the one for Normal/Combination Skin. It’s lightweight yet rich and moisturizing, making your skin plumped, nourished and smooth.

INDIE LEE Squalane Facial Oil – Suitable for all skin types, Squalane oil is very lightweight yet nourishing. I find squalane oil to be one of the best oils for sensitive or irritated skin. It’s lightly occlusive which helps to seal in moisture, and makes skin feel silky soft, never oily or greasy.

Moisturizers

LIVING LIBATIONS Rose Glow Creme – This is a calming and very hydrating moisturizing cream that works beautifully sealing in moisture. A little goes a long way. It’s very soothing and gives skin a radiant dewy finish. Great for most skin types, especially sensitive, mature skin, or skin prone to redness. At night I like to use the Rose Glow Serum under the Rose Glow Creme for an extra nourishing overnight treatment.

JOSH ROSEBROOK Vital Balm Cream – I absolutely love this! If you have dry or dehydrated skin, this is a must try. It’s a hybrid between a balm and a cream, so it’s very rich and nourishing, and very protective. This is especially good as an overnight moisturizing treatment and to protect your skin from dehydrating indoor heating or air conditioning. Also, if you use a retinol and need a moisturizing product to help balance and restore your skin, I highly recommend it. If you have sensitive or reactive skin, there’s the Unscented Vital Balm Cream which is just as good but without essential oils or scent making it best choice for sensitive skin.

JAO BRAND Face Creme – This is an excellent moisturizer for replenishing skin and building a strong skin barrier. Rich in ceramides, non-greasy, and delivers deep moisture yet feels very light on the skin. It’s suitable for all skin types. I personally like the Jao Brand Face Creme Sensitive Skin which is same formula but without essential oils.

INDIE LEE Active Oil-Free Moisturizer – This is the best oil-free moisturizer I’ve ever tried. In fact, it’s just as nourishing as any moisturizer but minus the oils, making it especially good for oily, combination, acne prone and skin that is sensitive to oil. It’s ultra hydrating, fast absorbing, skin softening and perfects the skin without being greasy, heavy or sticky.

Eye Creams & Lash Treatments

LIVING LIBATIONS All Seeing Eye Creme – If you have lines and wrinkles around your eyes and deep crow’s feet, you’ll like this. It’s a soothing and moisturizing eye cream that treats dryness and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I like to keep this eye cream in the fridge, so it’s nice and cool upon application. If you have puffiness around your eyes, you can pair it with Open Sky Eye Serum which helps reduce swelling and water retention around the eyes, and calms irritation (I suffer seasonal allergies and this serum really soothes my eyes). The Open Sky Eye Serum is oil-based, but extremely lightweight and fast absorbing, it can be used day and night.

INDIE LEE Restorative Eye Cream – Looking for an eye cream that softens and smooths lines and texture, while also working well under makeup? This eye cream is lightweight, nourishing and absorbs quickly without any oily residues. I am prone to milia under and around my eyes, and this eye cream never causes any issue or sensitivity.

ANNMARIE SKIN CARE Anti-Aging Eye Cream – If you have dry skin, this eye cream is a dream. Rich and deeply moisturizing, this keeps skin smooth, hydrated and supple. Great for dry or maturing skin types, plus dry or harsh climates.

Facial Masks

LIVING LIBATIONS Royal Rose Honey Mask – This is a deep cleansing, textured honey clay mask that exfoliates and brightens. I recommend this if you are prone to getting clogged pores, blackheads, texture, or dull skin. It’s an instant skin brightener; polishing off surface buildup, revealing silky smooth, clear skin.

INDIE LEE Clearing Mask – This is an outstanding clay mask. It deeply cleanses the skin and pores without being drying. It has salicylic acid and glycolic acid, yet it’s very soothing, hydrating and gentle. This mask makes your skin so soft, smooth, clear, and evens out skin tone beautifully. If you are prone to getting breakouts, pimples, blackheads, clogged pores or bumpy skin texture, try this!

INDIE LEE I-Waken Resurfacing Mask – Don’t have time for masks? This is a 5 minute resurfacing masks that deeply cleanses as it dissolves surface buildup revealing smooth, clear, radiant skin. I like the smooth texture of the mask making it feel gentle on the skin as it deeply cleanses. This mask can complement a routine with retinol nicely (use on nights you don’t use retinol to remove buildup and gently exfoliate the skin. Use 1-2 times/week).

ANNMARIE Coconut Honey Mask – This is the most nourishing and restorative mask, a must-have for anyone with dry skin. It instantly replenishes thirsty skin, making it soft, dewy, and supple. If you travel frequently on planes, I recommend this using this before and/or after your flight. And for next level replenishing results – try double masking with Annmarie Illuminating Pearl Mask (leave on for 30-60 minutes and rinse), followed by Annmarie Coconut Honey Mask (leave on for 20-30 minutes, and rinse).

Washcloths / Flannels

GROVIA Cloth Wipes – Designed for babies, these are the softest reusable washcloths with the perfect amount of texture to cleanse skin thoroughly without being harsh or abrasive. Great for the oil cleansing and removing foundation and makeup.

Lip Balms & Treatments

MARA Sea Silk Lip Balm – If you have dry or chapped lips in need of serious replenishment, or looking for a lip balm that plumps as it hydrates; MARA Sea Silk Lip Balms are the absolute best.

LIVING LIBATIONS Rose Glow Lover Lips – The Lover Lips lip balm range from Living Libations is amazing. Super nourishing without being sticky, heavy or waxy. The Rose Glow is my favourite, it has a cool-toned red tint. The Vanilla Chamomile Lover Lips is without a tint, and just as good.

TOK BEAUTY Lip Tonic – Not just a gorgeous lip gloss, but these lip tonics are so moisturizing. Super comfortable to wear, lightweight, non-sticky and they come in 4 shades that complement any skin tone beautifully. My personal favorite is shade Glow, it’s the most perfect golden nude tone with a hint of shimmer.

Face Sunscreen

SUNTEGRITY 5 in 1 Tinted Sunscreen Moisturizer SPF 30 – This is the best all-natural mineral sunscreen I have found. It’s moisturizing (but not heavy or greasy), absorbs really well, non-comedogenic, and fully protects the skin. It comes in 4 shades, has light to medium coverage, no white cast, blends into the skin beautifully, and helps conceal blemishes, uneven skin tone, texture and pores. If you prefer a face sunscreen without a tint, Suntegrity has Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen & Primer SPF 30.

  • Full blog review, video demo, and swatches of both sunscreens, click here.

SUNTEGRITY Impeccable Skin SPF 30 – This really does make your skin look flawless and impeccable (and so natural looking). Impeccable Skin is an all-in-one foundation and mineral sun protection (broad spectrum, SPF 30). The coverage is light to medium, it’s fragrance-free, oil-free and silicone-free, but it’s also very hydrating and skin softening. It’s suitable for all skin types, but especially good if you are prone to breakouts or acne, or have very sensitive skin. It has a satin skin-like finish, lightweight, and very easy to use. An all around winner!
